Orangery

The present orangery was built in 1844 on the grounds of a former brewery. Constructed in the Gothic-Moorish style, it has long since ceased to be used solely for the wintering of frost-sensitive trees and shrubs. The building with its white façade and small towers is both a conference as well as an event centre.

Moreover, the “Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau” Foundation also has offices in the elongated building, which faces southwest with its large wooden windows. From mid-May to the beginning of October is it possible to rent the sunlit hall of the Orangery for various occasions. Seating is available for 80 to 100 people with tables and up to 200 people with concert seating. The rental includes the possibility to use the equipped kitchen in the building.

Wedding Room

Are you looking for something special for your wedding ceremony? On the ground floor of the New Castle, traces of history and modern architecture merge into an exciting atmosphere. Original stucco elements from the past were painstakingly crafted and incorporated into a simple new design – an extremely charming mixture.

When Pückler’s wife Lucie lived in these rooms, she was able to look out into the “Schnuckental” (“Snookum Valley”) which gets its name from her pet name. The Green Prince designed it as a wedding present for her: “The Schnuckenthal spreads out under the windows of your future home, beyond the castle pond to the surrounding hills. An iron English fence and path surrounds it. It is richly decorated with flowers and shrubs. The clear water of the lake gently washes the fresh green banks, and tame deer play here.”

The Wedding Room in the West Wing can accommodate 42 people. Access to the New Castle is permitted for the bridal vehicle (car or carriage). Further use of selected areas in the park (for example for a champagne reception) is possible.

Royal Stables

Prince Pückler believed that all inherited farm buildings in the vicinity of the palace were a thorn in his side in terms of design. The estate’s passionate gardner simply demolished the former baroque stable construction. However, a replacement building was long awaited. It was only under the reign of Hermann Graf von Arnim that today’s building was erected in neo-Renaissance style around 1900. You can even still sense that it was part of the historic castle fortifications as a horse stable.

Today the royal stables can be used for various occasions. Guests access the building through a spacious barrel vault, which has an impressive ceiling height. In the adjoining multi-purpose hall, 112 people can be seated at tables and 156 people in concerts. During the winter season (from 15th October till 15th May), the use of the Royal Stables is restricted, as potted plants are stored there as well as in the Orangery and the Green Hall.

Ballroom

The ballroom in the annex of the New Castle exudes a truly royal ambience. It is a reminder of the heyday of the neo-Renaissance style building, which burned down completely at the end of the Second World War. Unplastered brickwork on the walls makes the traces of the past visible without impairing the prestigious character of the room.

The reconstructed ballroom with its outstanding furnishings and excellent acoustics can be used for a variety of purposes. With seating in rows, e.g. for lectures or concerts, it can accommodate more than 200 guests. Around 100 seats are available for conferences. Modern media technology, a retractable stage as well as interpreter and conference equipment are available.

Green Hall

During the reconstruction of the castle garden a wonderful symbiosis of old and new has been achieved. An innovative glass cube was integrated into the row of greenhouses, which were renovated according to the historical model. The Green Hall resembles a bridge in that it links the kitchen garden and the Orangery in a surprising way.

The large bright room is available for events. Guests who use the room have direct access to the kitchen garden with its small orchard of fruit trees. Guests can also visit the exhibition “Pineapple! The Queen of Fruits in Muskau Park”. A well-equipped kitchen and toilets are available in the building. The Green Hall can seat up to 40 people with table seating. Like the Royal Stables and the Orangery, the Green Hall has limited use during the winter season. It is used for rare plant storage for the winter months.

Seminar Rooms

In the castle’s north wing you can rent a magnificent conference room on the ground floor. There is room for 35 to 50 guests. The room has direct access to a terrace with a magnificent view over the castle meadow to the Neisse River. Another seminar room is available directly above it on the first floor.

WEDDINGS

“Oh God! How Your kisses still burn on my lips … You must love me or the earth will devour me,” Pückler assured a lady he adored in a love letter. He created an ideal backdrop for letting great emotions run free with his landscape garden on the Neisse River.

Wedding couples can say yes to each other in the New and Old Castle and in the Orangery. The registry office of the City of Bad Muskau is responsible for marriages.
