The Pücklerstein

A foundling stone on a slope to the east of the Neisse River carries a bronze relief of Pückler, the park's creator. The Pücklerstein faces west, towards the red glow of the castle.

Vista to the Pücklerstein

Visual links between features, called sight lines or vistas, criss-cross Muskauer Park. The vista between the New Castle in the west and the so-called Pücklerstein in the east is one of the best known.

New Castle

The New Castle (Neues Schloss) existed only as a ruin for four decades after it was burned out in 1945. However, the once grand neo-renaissance structure has been painstakingly restored over the last few years, and now its approach ramp offers a panoramic view over the lawn towards the east.

The Castle Garden

Approaching from the south, a path skirts a copper beech on its way towards the castle. The venerable tree has witnessed the passage of over 220 years. Opposite, lying idyllically on the banks of the Luciesee lake and hidden behind bushes, is the Castle Garden.

The Eichsee Waterfall

A large foundling stone juts out of the middle of the waterfall, disturbing the carefully created whole. There is a story behind it: when Pückler was again unfaithful to his wife Lucie, she had the stone brought and sunk in the middle of the waterfall as a sign of her displeasure.

The Viaduct

The viaduct crosses a gully on the Herrenberg hill in the east of the park. Just after the viaduct, the visitor comes to the Tomb of the Unknown Man, a romantically ornamented grave.

Spa complex with Villa Bellevue

Located in the southwest of Pückler's landscaped park, the spa complex began attracting guests to Muskau at the beginning of the 19th century. The guests stayed in magnificent houses and partook of the chalybeate (i.e. containing iron) waters from the Hermannsquelle, which were said to work wonders.

Ruined Church in Berg

The stone church in the small village of Berg near Muskau was built in the 12th century. The ruin is today an integral part of Muskauer Park and is used as a romantic location for weddings.
