Visitors to Muskauer Park are walking around a work of art. The park's creator, Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, called his work "painting with nature." Instead of paint and brushes, he used trees, hills, meadows and rivers. Paths and tracks lead the visitor to his best pictures, all of which have a story to tell.

Muskauer Park covers more than 830 hectares, and more the 50 kilometres of tracks criss-cross it. Not everybody wants to walk that far, and Prince Pückler himself proposed carriage tours through his park, taking in the central sights and most interesting vistas.

Book carriage rides

The paths around the hills lead to wonderful panoramas of the Neisse valley. The routes in the eastern part of the park lead past wilder scenery, while the tracks through the hilly section and the spa lead back to the past. All the paths are prepared and are perfect for bike tours.

Bike hire

Pückler the landscape artist spared no cost or effort in the realisation of his ideas. Even the appearance of impossibility did not deter him. Rerouting rivers, digging canals, creating lakes – nothing was too much trouble for Pückler. The view from the water offers a different perspective of his creation.

In the early morning when the mist is still clinging to the bushes, or in the evening when the last rays of the setting sun bathe the meadows in gold and kiss the tops of the trees – then the park has a very special kind of charm. Lucky is the person who has the opportunity to experience the magic of Muskau throughout the day and night.

"Oh God! How your kisses burn still upon my lips … you must love me, or the Earth must swallow me," wrote Pückler in a letter to one of his paramours. There is also space for grand emotions in today's Muskauer Park – the Orangery hosts civil marriage ceremonies.
